30-Day Digital Minimalism (Without the Manifesto)
I am, ironically, writing this on a phone. The goal isn't to become a monk. It's to stop feeling bossed around by your devices.
Day 1 — Delete one social app from your phone. Just one.
Day 2 — Turn off ALL notifications except calls + texts.
Day 3 — Count how many times you unlock your phone. Use Screen Time.
Day 4 — Move the top row of your home screen — disrupt muscle memory.
Day 5 — No phone in bed tonight. Charge in another room.
Day 6 — One phone-free hour at home.
Day 7 — Day 7: check the Screen Time number vs day 3.
Day 8 — Remove email from phone for 24h. Check on desktop only.
Day 9 — No scrolling while in line. Practice not-scrolling.
Day 10 — Silence group chats that aren't urgent.
Day 11 — Unfollow 10 people who make you feel worse.
Day 12 — Phone in another room during meals.
Day 13 — Install an app blocker on one site that owns you.
Day 14 — Day 14: reintroduce email if you want. Note what's missing.
Day 15 — No phone for the first hour after waking.
Day 16 — No phone for the last hour before sleep.
Day 17 — Delete a second app.
Day 18 — Turn phone grayscale for the day.
Day 19 — Walk 20 minutes, phone on airplane mode.
Day 20 — Day 20: what did you notice?
Day 21 — Declutter your home screen to one page.
Day 22 — Delete 100 photos.
Day 23 — Unsubscribe from 10 email lists.
Day 24 — Pick one site you won't visit on your phone, ever.
Day 25 — Turn off autoplay on YouTube/streaming.
Day 26 — No screens during a social dinner.
Day 27 — Day 27: read a book for an hour.
Day 28 — Phone off for an entire evening.
Day 29 — Review all notifications you allowed back. Cut half.
Day 30 — Write down the rule you're keeping. One rule.
Day 31 you get your phone back. You'll use it differently.
