30-Day Sketchbook Prompts
One prompt per day, 10 minutes. Don't erase. Don't finish. The sketchbook is for thinking, not for showing.
Day 1 — Your non-dominant hand.
Day 2 — The object closest to you, contour only.
Day 3 — A thing in motion — draw while it moves.
Day 4 — A shadow, not its caster.
Day 5 — Something you ate today.
Day 6 — A face from memory.
Day 7 — The view outside, upside down (reference upside down).
Day 8 — A tool you own, from two angles.
Day 9 — A stranger's hands.
Day 10 — Your shoe.
Day 11 — A plant. No outlines — just values.
Day 12 — Wind (whatever that means to you).
Day 13 — Your least favorite room, favorite corner.
Day 14 — A meal, after eating.
Day 15 — An animal you haven't drawn before.
Day 16 — The same object from memory, then from life. Compare.
Day 17 — A cloud, quickly.
Day 18 — Your palm.
Day 19 — A doorway.
Day 20 — Something you're afraid of.
Day 21 — A tool's shadow.
Day 22 — A gesture drawing — 30 seconds.
Day 23 — Something that's broken.
Day 24 — A self-portrait, 3 lines only.
Day 25 — A childhood toy from memory.
Day 26 — A word as an image.
Day 27 — The noisiest corner of your home.
Day 28 — Something you love, ugly.
Day 29 — A map of today.
Day 30 — Page one of the sketchbook — redo, with what you know now.
On day 31, flip from the start. You've changed. You can see it.
