Ultralight is a religion with many sects. This is what I actually carry, not what I aspire to.

• Pack (40–50L)
• Tarp or single-wall tent
• Sleeping bag (20°F)
• Inflatable pad (R-value 2+)
• Stove + canister + lighter
• Titanium pot (750ml)
• Long spoon
• Water filter
  Squeeze, not pump. Your future self says thanks.
• Two 1L bottles
• Headlamp
• Map + compass (yes, still)
• Rain jacket
• Puffy jacket (compressible)
• Extra socks
• First-aid + repair kit (small)
• 2 days of food + buffer
• Trowel + TP in ziploc

Total base weight: ~12 lb. That's not ultralight. That's lightweight with a margin for comfort. Fight me.
