Weekend Car Camping Packing List (2 Nights, 2 Adults + 2 Kids)

Arrive at 4pm, tents up before dinner, breakfast easy on morning two. This list assumes you're car camping with a picnic table and a fire ring.

  1. Shelter

  2. Tent (check poles before leaving)

  3. Footprint / tarp under tent

  4. Sleeping bags × 4

  5. Sleeping pads × 4

    The kids will sleep fine. You won't, without one.

  6. Pillows (or stuff-sacks with fleece)

  7. Cooking

  8. Two-burner stove + propane

  9. Cast iron or one nonstick pan

  10. Pot for boiling water

  11. Lighter + backup matches

  12. Cooler with drinks, hot dogs, eggs, fruit

  13. Coffee setup

    Pour-over + grounds. Instant is fine if you're not precious.

  14. Light / misc

  15. Headlamp per person

  16. Spare batteries

  17. Bug spray + sunscreen

  18. First-aid kit

  19. One trash bag per day, plus one

If you forget something, the drive home is fine. Don't spiral over one missing item.
